True Religion brought denim bikini fashion and accessories to the beach at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim.

Based in LA, the denim fashion forward designers to Miami to show Sea and Sun, a new licensee.

True Religion’s founder and chief executive, Jeff Lubell, said the look of the collection is inspired by his lifestyle.

“It comes from my soul, more or less, and from the ‘70s and that carefree hippie-bohemian chic kind of way of life,” he explained. “I live in Malibu so it’s very laid back,” he added.

The gallery shows the denim swimwear that features studs, top stitching and the brand's logo on the rear. Lubell said True Religion created the denim with washed, tattered, ragged, shredded and distressed look and added suede and leather look-alikes for accent.

The 24-year-old reality star - who is due Christmas Day - sported the revealing swimwear during a relaxing day at a Malibu beach with new husband Hank Baskett and their dogs, Rascal and Martini.

Just when you thought it couldn't get any hotter, welcome to the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim!

Supermodels will show the latest looks for 2010; local designer Red Carter is featuring his newest designs, including a brown and pink teeny weenie adjustable bikini created for Ban Du Soleil.

Red says this week is to swimwear designers what the Paris fashion shows are to haute couture. "This is it baby; its bikini central," Red Carter told CBS4's Lisa Petrillo. "It's exciting to be here, lots of skin and lots of sex appeal. We're showing what we got, which is really hot."

As workers get the tents ready for the thousand of guests who will attend more than 19 shows at The Raleigh on South Beach, Red showed off a sneak peak of some of what he'll show off on the runway. Like all of his suits, a multi-colored bikini with gold hardware has his signature "Red" button bolted to his bottoms.

Another local designer will premiere her 2010 collection this week. Designer Mirla Sabino of ANK Swimwear explained she's excited to be here because it's not only the top fashion writers who attend; it's those big buyers as well.

"Buyers from big companies like Victoria Secret come here. There are some big buyers from all over the world!" says Mirla.

ANK features everything from sporty bikinis to cool corals. All are sure to turn heads on any beach.

Both designers say these five days will certainly set the trends for what you will see on the beaches in the very near future.

"This has always been a great motivator for my company," Red explained. "We get the buzz out about what is hot and happening."

"This is the destination place for swimwear; we have the weather, beautiful beaches! Everyone comes here!" Mirla said.

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim officially kicks off Wednesday night at The Raleigh on South Beach and runs through Sunday. More than 12-thousand people are expected to attend and see the latest looks in swimwear design.

More women are opting for a boost on the beach this summer, with Debenhams reporting a boom in sales for 'boob-job bikinis'.

The perfect answer for those looking to increase their bust, the Red Herring bikini contains cleavage enhancing gel-filled cups, which give a more natural look compared to traditional padding.

The style initially hit the shelves three months ago, and has since seen sales rise by a massive 80% in comparison to its non-enhanced counterparts.

Debenhams swimwear buyer Amanda Wain commented: 'Research into women's lingerie shopping habits revealed that 45 per cent of all A to C cup bras sold are now enhancing... With padded and push-up bras among the biggest growth areas in lingerie, we felt now was the perfect time to try these gel-filled bikini tops which give the same effect.

'But even we have been taken aback by the surge in demand.'

At £16 for the top and £6 for the bottom, it's certainly a much cheaper, and far less painful, alternative to the surgeon's knife!

With all the to do over the replay of American Idol’s “bikini girl” audition, and Kara Dioguardi’s followup with a bikini flash this week, I thought I’d take a look at the history of the bikini.

Two French fashion designers, Louis Reard and Jacque Heim are credited with creating the world’s briefest swimsuits in 1946, and by 1947, French bikinis were marketed in France. At the same time, the atomic bomb continued to be tested near the Bikini Atoll in the South Pacific. There’s some speculation as to how exactly the skimpy swimwear came to be named the bikini, but we can agree that both the atomic bomb and the bikini were “shocking” for their time. Comparing the size, or more accurately the coverage, of a bikini swimsuit to the atom, or even to the size of the tiny Bikini Atoll in the vast Pacific Ocean, it’s easy to come up with a variety of reasons for the name, as Reard’s creation took only 30 square inches of fabric.

The bikini made its way to the French Riviera soon after its introduction and quickly spread across Europe. While the bikini did make it to the U.S. market, many who tried the fashion found the bikini banned from the beach or at risk of being arrested for indecent exposure. It took some time for the bikini to find acceptance in the public arena in America where social mores and attitudes began to loosen up with the arrival of rock and roll by the late 1950s and early 1960s. In 1957, French sex kitten, Bridget Bardot appeared on a beach in a French bikini in And God Created Woman which made it to a few art theaters in the United States.

In August 1960, the pop tune, “Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini,” hit the pop charts. The song captured just how skimpy the daring swimwear could be and how brave a girl had to be to wear one – or how timid the song’s character was when she did. The 1959 movie, Gidget, had brought the California surfing scene to the big screen and was certain to have boosted the beach scene on both coasts. The time was finally ripe for the bikini to step out onto American beaches, although Hollywood still had to tow the line with a little more coverage than a true bikini could provide with its triangular patches and connective string. With such splash and dash movies as Beach Party (1963), Beach Blanket Bingo (1965), and How to Stuff a Wild Bikini (1966) hitting the big screen, modesty, along with a little more fabric, went a long way in the theaters.

In more recent decades, nudity, language, violence, and the occasional wardrobe malfunction have found their way into the movies and television programming, yet the bikini retains its ability to shock and titillate the public, giving us all something to talk about.

Woman with large busts should find a swimsuit that fully supports them. The best swimsuits for that are ones with halter-tops or molded under wire cups to keep everything in place.

Every Spring, shopping for swimsuits is usually two of the worst things women have to do. Here are some tips from the experts to help make your swimsuit shopping must less stressful.

A woman with a large rear end should look for swimsuits with boy cut bottoms. This helps hide your rear but also looks cute and is comfortable. Avoid the skimpy bikini briefs at all costs!

Women with an inverted shape (their top is wider than their hips), should pick a two-piece with a skort or shorts. This will help balance their top and bottom, making them look more proportional.

For the top, you can also pick something that is catchy and brightly colored. This will draw attention upwards away from your rear end.

Curvy women should consider the tankini. The tankini is a two-piece swimsuit with a top that resembles a tank top. With it, you can pair the hipster bottoms.
These nice looking bottoms provide far more support for your curves than the traditional bikini bottoms.

If you have a large stomach, you should stick to a one-piece suit.

Bikini pioneer Paula Stafford will be among the celebrity guests attending Australia’s first ever swimwear-only fashion week.

More than 100 buyers from around the globe will descend on Sanctuary Cove on the Gold Coast from Wednesday to take a peek at Australia’s latest beachwear offerings.

The first Australian swim fashion week - and just the second in the world - hopes to follow in the footsteps of some of the country’s signature fashion weeks.

About 25 local designers will display their wares in front of a celebrity-studded audience.

Ms Stafford, the woman publicly credited with introducing Queensland to the bikini, former surfer Layne Beachley and her INXS rocker partner Kirk Pengilly, and swimmer Giaan Rooney are expected to attend.

Over four days, models will parade the latest designs from fashion houses such as Zimmerman, JETS by Jessika Allen, White Sands and the Karen Nielsen Collection.

The event could prove a gold mine for local designers searching for a global customer base.

Simon Lock, vice president of IMG, which is running the event, said buyers had come from as far away as Guam and Hawaii.

“We envisage that over time this event will gain more and more international attention,” he said.

“We are so fortunate to have the strong support of all the key industry players here in Australia ...

“It will go a long way towards continuing to enhance our global reputation as style leaders.”

Bringing new meaning to “string” bikini, this shocking ad for a Brazilian bikini manufacturer place a ribbon between, well, you know, cheeks, to call attention.

They certainly got their goal accomplished, I don’t think anybody can overlook this ad… including all those who will be upset by its controversial edge.

The ad was created by advertising agency FNL COMMUNICATIONS, Australia, Sydney with creative direction by Mike Miller and Luke Duggan. The copy was written by Nathan Lennon. The cheeky image was shot by John Patrick.

The joy of maternity swimsuit shopping is that, whilst you can buy maternity-specific suits (and we have found some great ones here) you can just as easily go down the ‘buy-a-bikini-and-be-done-with-it’ route. The key to getting this right is to choose swimwear with a lot of stretch to allow for movement. Bottoms that are a fold over style (lacking in the ability to cut into your belly with too tight elastic) are a great idea, as are soft tie side styles. Tops that support the bust, but without the digging-in underwires will help keep you supported without pain - whilst a good halter top can also be a great option!

Whatever route you decide to go down (cheapie bikini, or well-made maternity suit) make sure to get out there and use it this summer!
